STEM Education & Partnerships Program

At STEM Education & Partnerships, we are igniting the future of innovation. Funded through a Department of Defense (DoD) grant as part of the Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC), our mission is to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. Sinclair is proud to be one of 27 organizations nationwide chosen to collaborate in this transformative effort, which includes STEM enrichment, workforce development, and public outreach.


Our Programs

STEM Enrichment & Career Exploration Programs

  • Sinclair Forensic Science Career Day: Held each spring and fall, this event immerses high school students and teachers in the exciting world of forensic science. Engage with STEM professionals, explore cutting-edge technologies, and build essential career skills.
  • STEM Professional Guest Speakers: Connects K-12 classrooms with industry and Department of Defense professionals who share inspiring insights into STEM careers and educational pathways.
  • After School STEM Enrichment: Offers free, hands-on STEM activities at partner organizations making STEM accessible and fun for K-12 learners.

Dayton Chief Science Officers (CSO) Program

The Chief Science Officers program is an international STEM student leadership program founded and run by SciTech Institute. Home - Chief Science Officers

The Dayton CSO program launched in 2023 through a partnership with the Montgomery County Educational Service Center (ESC). This dynamic program empowers student leaders from public high schools in Montgomery, Greene, & Warren counties to drive change. Nominated by their schools teachers, counselors, or administrators, Dayton CSOs meet monthly at Sinclair to:

  • Earn industry recognized credentials.
  • Design and implement impactful group action plans that solve a need in their community.
  • Build their professional skills by collaborating, thinking critically, managing projects, and communicating effectively. 
  • Tour local industries and learn more about STEM careers in the Dayton area.
  • Network with STEM professionals and present their work at local and national events.

Sinclair STEM Summer Camp

This free multi-week day summer camp in June is designed for rising high school juniors, seniors, and recent high school graduates that are planning to attend Sinclair in the fall to explore STEM subjects and careers. The Sinclair STEM Summer Camp offers:

  • College campus navigation and services.
  • Interactive STEM workshops led by Sinclair professors.
  • Site visits to top STEM companies and organizations.
  • Essential professional skills training and opportunities to earn credentials.

Emerging Leaders in STEM Program

This program is brought to you in partnership with Learning Undefeated, a non-profit organization and fellow DSEC partner that is transforming how students experience science, technology, engineering, and math. Home - Learning Undefeated

The Emerging Leaders in STEM program is a spring and summer fast-paced, hands-on, accelerated biotechnology course that introduces high school and STEM degree seeking 2-year or 4-year college students to high-demand biotechnology careers in private and DoD labs. Students in this program:

  • Learn advanced biotechnology laboratory skills like genetic engineering and synthetic biology.
  • Connect with peers who have similar interests.
  • Meet STEM career professionals from across the spectrum of STEM careers.
  • Discover STEM Career Pathways.
