General Counsel

The Office of General Counsel supports the mission of Sinclair Community College by providing legal representation and advice to the College. Lauren M. Ross, J.D., has served as Sinclair’s General Counsel since 2009.

The Office of General Counsel provides a wide range of legal services to the college in the areas of compliance with federal and state laws, contract review and drafting, responding to public records requests, managing litigation involving the college, and more.

The Office of General Counsel also coordinates the provision of legal services to the college by other attorneys, including Ohio Assistant Attorneys General and special counsel appointed by the Ohio Attorney General.

The Office of General Counsel does not generally provide legal services to individual employees or students of the college.

Requests for legal assistance from the Office of General Counsel generally must come from college employees at the level of Dean/Director or higher. Other college employees who seek legal assistance should work with their Dean/Director or Vice President to arrange for contact with the Office of General Counsel.
