Differences between High School and College

Federal guidelines mandate different services offered in high school versus colleges. This chart provides examples of the differences.

High School College
Administer test over several days and have the opportunity to retest Must complete test once started and not permitted to retest
Instructor repeats/rephrases directions during class Student should ask questions when appropriate in class, after class, or email instructor outside of class for clarification
Study guides, word banks, access to notes during testing Only if available to entire class 
Modifying tests/homework assignments Students must complete same coursework as non disabled peers
