Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE) - is a non-profit regional law firm that provides high-quality legal assistance in civil matters to help low-income individuals and groups in Ohio achieve self-reliance, and equal justice and economic opportunity.

Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project - the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project provides volunteer attorneys for one-on-one representation. To apply for any type of aid with our organization simply contact Legal Aid of Western Ohio at 1-888-534-1432.  They do all intake and screening for the VLP.  If you find it more convenient you can access a guided on-line pre-intake interview at

Montgomery County Public Defender’s Office – The Montgomery County Law Office of the Public Defender provides legal representation to citizens accused of criminal conduct.

Ohio Justice & Policy Center – provides free legal assistance to people looking to overcome barriers created by a criminal record and to people who are incarcerated and face denials of basic human rights.

Dayton Bar Association Attorney Referral Service – referrals to attorneys based on the person’s need both situationally and financially.  – searchable database by zip code for resources to help with food, clothing, misc goods, housing, health, financial and other free or reduced cost programs.
