How to Apply

Once you have reviewed the Study Abroad programs and planning page, follow the instructions below to complete the application process.

Step 1: Determine Eligibility

To be eligible to participate in a Sinclair Study Abroad program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a current Sinclair Community College student when applying.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 and be in good academic standing.
  • Be in good disciplinary standing regarding Sinclair’s Student Code of Conduct and Academic Integrity Policy.
  • Be at least 18 years old when the program begins.

Step 2: Apply

Only complete the Study Abroad program application if you have a specific program in mind. If you are generally interested or need more information, please visit the Office of International Education (Building 10, Room 303).

Complete the application and upload your essay directly in the form. Your essay must include your name, date of submission, and the program name. It should be approximately 450–500 words and address each of the following questions:

  • Why do you want to study abroad, and what led you to make this decision?
  • What are your academic goals for study abroad? What workforce-related skills and tools are you hoping to gain for your future career?
  • What are your personal goals, and what impact do you hope this experience will have?
  • What challenges do you anticipate before or during the program?
  • How will you prepare for your study abroad experience?

Step 3: Deposit

At the time of application, students must pay a non-refundable deposit either online or in person at the Bursar’s/Cashier’s Office (Building 10, Room 016). We strongly encourage you to keep your receipt. Deposit amounts vary by year and program—check with the Office of International Education for confirmation. The deposit will be applied toward your total program cost.

Step 4: Scholarships and Financial Aid

If you receive federal financial aid, it may be possible to apply those funds to a for-credit Study Abroad program. To explore this option, schedule an appointment with a Financial Aid officer.

Do not apply unless you are confident you can commit to the program and make payments by all deadlines.
