Sinclair Community College Announces New Senior Vice President and Provost, Continuing Tradition of Academic Leadership Excellence

Following an extensive nationwide search, Sinclair Community College has selected a new Senior Vice President and Provost. Dr. Rena Sebor, currently serving at Sinclair as Dean of Health Sciences. Dr. Sebor will begin her new role as Senior Vice President and Provost of Sinclair Community College starting June 1, 2025.

“The provost position is one of the most critical leadership roles at Sinclair and we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Sebor, who has proven herself to be an effective leader and a respected individual,” said Dr. Steve Johnson, President and CEO at Sinclair Community College. “All of Sinclair will benefit from Dr. Sebor’s leadership. It will be a delight to see Dr. Sebor and our leadership team build upon the enormous energy and momentum happening at Sinclair.”

Sinclair’s Provost has full responsibility for leading the instruction of student learning to support the mission of the college through its strategic initiative by advancing student success, workforce readiness, AI-driven innovation, and the day-to-day operations of Sinclair’s academic divisions: Business & Public Services, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts, Communication, & Social Sciences, and STEM. Dr. Sebor will also oversee student education and academic support operations, to include College Credit Plus (CCP), as well as Sinclair’s Prison Education Program, which offers college-level courses in fields open to citizens looking to reenter the workforce. Sinclair Community College is a proven leader in correctional education in the State of Ohio and has a comprehensive enrollment process that connects individuals to services within the community.

Dr. Sebor joined Sinclair College in 2000 as an Assistant Professor in the Dental Health Sciences Department., where she was appointed Chair of the department by 2003, before being promoted to Professor in 2009. Since 2011, when she was named Sinclair’s Exemplary Chair, Dr. Sebor has served as the Dean of Health Sciences, overseeing 57 degree and certificate healthcare programs with 85 full-time faculty members. More than 1,000 students graduate annually from Sinclair’s Health Sciences Division, and there are 600 clinical affiliations at Sinclair, which serves as a cornerstone of healthcare education in the region.

In 2017, Dr. Sebor and her team at Sinclair opened the new, state-of-the-art Health Sciences Center, a $32 million facility designed for high-quality inter-professional and simulation education. In January 2024, the Health Sciences Division launched the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, which will see its first graduates walk at Sinclair’s 2024-2025 Commencement Ceremony. This August, the division will introduce the Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Sciences, a degree designed to advance the education of associate degree healthcare workers.

Dr. Sebor holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from The Ohio State University, as well as a doctorate in Community College Leadership & Administration from Capella University.
