Summer semester starts in 6 days, marking our first term together in Canvas.
This transition brings both excitement and new opportunities to learn along the way. Let’s approach it with grace, patience, and support for one another.
The best way to start the term successfully is with a well-prepared teaching shell. If you read nothing else in this email, please review the Preparing Your Teaching Shell Checklist in the Learning Lounge to ensure you are ready for Canvas go-live on May 18.
To support all faculty teaching or using Canvas this summer, we’ve compiled answers to the most common questions as we approach go-live.
In the Learning Lounge, visit:
Go!: Teach in Canvas Module > Teaching Resource Tutorials
Canvas will be available through the familiar eLearn tile in my.sinclair.edu beginning May 14 at 8:00 a.m.
eLearn 101 is a 30-minute self-paced tutorial introducing students to the most common Canvas tools and features.
All new and active students have been auto-enrolled and can find the tutorial in:
Courses > All Courses > Browse More Courses
eLearn 101 replaces How to Succeed in eLearn in D2L and will remain optional through October.
Beginning with Spring 2026 registration, eLearn 101 will be required for all new students registering for online courses.
Thank you for your partnership, flexibility, and hard work throughout this transition. Together, we are building an exciting future for teaching and learning at Sinclair, and we cannot wait to welcome students into Canvas this summer.
