The Ombuds Office at Sinclair provides a safe, confidential, neutral environment to discuss student concerns and challenges, conflict resolution, and any other issues that may be troublesome. The Ombuds:

  • Assists students, staff, and faculty members in resolving student problems/issues.
  • Helps find resources for students' non-academic personal challenges.
  • Provides intervention services for conflictual classroom situations.
  • Encourages students to learn problem-solving and navigate college effectively.
  • Offers personal/life skills coaching.
  • Addresses customer service issues or unresolved concerns.

What the Ombuds Does
  • Listens to concerns without judgment
  • Provides a safe and confidential space
  • Helps identify and resolve conflicts
  • Offers coaching and communication strategies
  • Facilitates conversations or mediations
  • Provides info and referrals
  • Helps interpret policies
What the Ombuds Does NOT Do
  • Take sides or advocate for individuals
  • Participate in formal investigations
  • Keep records of individual cases
  • Provide legal advice or counseling
  • Make or overturn decisions
