Are you looking for an introduction to digital illustration, imaging and digital page layout? Whether you're looking to learn the basics in design software, or just want to have the best family newsletter, this program can help you reach your goal.

Students who complete this short-term certificate may obtain entry-level positions in the field of print/graphic design or continue in the Visual Communications program for completion of the Associate of Applied Science degree.

What is the program about?

This certificate provides an introduction to the design process including hand sketching, development of thumbnails, digital illustration and imaging, page layout; and, composition techniques to support a variety of entry-level design positions. Students will be exposed to the latest version of the Adobe products.

Program Outcomes

  • Develop professional quality presentations and demonstrate adequate written and oral communication skills.
  • Recognize, understand and use the language and jargon of design.
  • Communicate design concepts at various stages of development using the design process, drawing skills and/or appropriate software.

Career Opportunities

Students will be able to obtain entry-level positions in the field of print/graphic design.

Transferability

Formal articulation agreements with other colleges and universities indicate how Sinclair programs and courses will transfer to other institutions. We currently have articulation agreements with Columbus College of Art and Design, Wright State University (Lake Campus), Art Academy of Cincinnati, and Franklin University.
