Large domestic animals visit Sinclair and the Agricultural and Veterinary departments downtown.

Agricultural worker doing day-to-day care and animal husbandry of dairy cow livestock.

Students learn to harness and lead large animals like horses properly and safely.

What is the program about?

This program is designed to introduce the student to working within the agricultural field and will provide a baseline of business, communication, and animal handling knowledge.

Program Outcomes

Demonstrate safe animal handling techniques and maintain a safe agricultural environment.
Prepare and communicate certifications and skills relevant for employment in animal care and handling.
Improve the productivity, nutrition, and animal conditions for a profitable farm business.

Career Opportunities

Holders of this certificate will be better able to obtain employment, or increase their status as a Farm Worker, Farm Manager, Feed Store Worker, Farm Bureau Representative, or Farm Banking Assistant.

Transferability

Students within Tech Prep Affiliated Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Equine Science, and Veterinary Science programs, who successfully complete their high school program will be awarded a credit for VET 1100. This short term certificate feeds a long term certificate course of study as well as a pending agricultural AAS degree. Additionally, most of the courses within this certificate are OTM credit courses that will transfer to other institutions. VET 1120 mirrors a course at the University of Findlay, and may also be considered a transferable course at that institution.
