What is the program about?

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) short-term certificate will provide students with both theoretical and practical applications of GIS. The certificate will cover the foundational concepts in GIS, including the principles of cartography and GIS, database management and analysis, data acquisition, and manipulation of georeferencing and geocoding.

Program Outcomes

  • Obtain a position as a GIS technician.
  • Build foundational knowledge of GIS concepts in preparation for four year degree.
  • Develop geospatial literacy in a range of professions, including but not limited to healthcare, law enforcement and business.

Career Opportunities

Students completing this certificate may obtain an entry level position with state and local government, business, non-profit organizations and the Defense Industry.
