What is the program about?

Designed for students who are planning on using Black Studies to enhance their careers in Social Work, Public Education, Urban Planning, etc. The student who pursues this Short-term Technical Certificate would plan to use this to supplement their professional development or to strengthen a major for which Black Studies is a strong base.

Program Outcomes

  • Recognize and articulate an understanding of the increasing interdependence of world cultures and their consequences.
  • Apply the major concepts and principles of African American Studies to better understand and address personal and professional concerns.
  • Identify the origins, scope and perspectives of African American Studies.

Career Opportunities

This certificate enhances careers in Social Work, Public Education, Urban Planning and related fields.
