Women's Basketball Ranks #1 in Pre-Season Poll

October 16, 2018 -- Sinclair Community College rose to the top of the 2018-19 OCCAC Women’s Basketball Pre-season Coaches Poll after receiving five of nine first-place votes and being slotted no worse than second by any of the other head coaches across the conference.

Owens Community College is ranked second while Cuyahoga sits third overall.

In addition, Bryant & Stratton (Ohio) joins the conference as a provisional member for the 2018-18 campaign.

Sinclair is coming off a record setting season under OCCAC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year, Head Coach Victoria Jones.  Finishing the with a record of 27-4 and a share of the OCCAC title with Owens, the Pride advanced to District title game against Owens only to fall short of taking that next step to the NJCAA Sweet 16.

The Pride will return with the OCCAC Player of the Year and 1st Team NJCAA All-American, Amanda Schroeder (6-00/SO – Carroll H.S.) as well as OCCAC Honorable Mention Kierre James (5-02/SO – Lima Sr. H.S.) and Keeara Nared (5-06/SO – Thurgood Marshall H.S.).

Late in the summer, Head Coach Jones accepted an offer to become the new Athletic Director for the Euclid City School District just outside of Cleveland.  Sinclair named Assistant Coach Trendale Perkins as Interim Coach for the 2018-19 season.

Sinclair will open the season on the road November 1 at Anne Arundel Community College just outside of Washington, DC.  They will return to the Building 8 arena on the downtown Dayton campus on Wednesday November 7 for the 2018-19 home opener against Miami University-Middletown.
