Sinclair Community College Names

Dr. Lisa Mahle-Grisez as Associate Provost

Dr. Mahle-Grisez will assume her new role on May 8, 2023.

DAYTON, OH – Sinclair Community College has named Dr. Lisa Mahle-Grisez as Associate Provost effective May 8, 2023. For the last two years, Dr. Mahle-Grisez served at the University of Cincinnati, Clermont College, as Associate Dean and Chief Academic Officer. However, Dr. Mahle-Grisez is no stranger to Sinclair. She originally joined Sinclair in1996 as an adjunct faculty in the English Department and transitioned to a tenure-track role as an Assistant Professor in 2010. Lisa then served as Chair of the English Department for five years and as Dean of Liberal Arts, Communication, and Social Sciences for three years.

As Associate Provost for Sinclair Community College, Dr. Mahle-Grisez will collaborate with the Provost to provide leadership in hiring, developing, and evaluating faculty and staff, Chair the Promotion and Tenure and Merit Committees, provide oversight and leadership of the curriculum review and assessment processes, supervise the Director of Academic Advising, and support Sinclair’s strategic priorities of alignment, growth, and equity to advance student completion and success.

“Throughout her career, Lisa has distinguished herself as a dedicated leader and educator. We are thrilled to have her back at Sinclair where her skills and dedication to excellence will strengthen our efforts to serve our students and community,” said Dr. Anthony Ponder, Provost – Sinclair Community College.

Dr. Mahle-Grisez holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Dayton in English and holds a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Her research interests include leadership in open access colleges, feminist rhetoric and historiography, and culturally responsive pedagogies.

“Like many of our students, I navigated my higher ed journey as a first-generation student without a compass. The most worthwhile educational experiences occurred when faculty made a connection with me – whether to offer encouragement, understanding, or even critique. My goal is to afford the same experience to students whenever possible and to support faculty in doing the same. I see exciting developments in the future as we continue to serve Sinclair students, and I look forward to working again with the passionate and dedicated team of faculty and staff at Sinclair,” said Dr. Mahle-Grisez.

Lisa has completed the LEAD Clermont community program (2023), the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Executive Leadership Institute (2021) and Future Leaders Institute (2019), the Women’s Institute for Leadership Development (WILD) (2018), and the Next Generation Leadership Academy (2017). She is also a SOCHE Teaching Excellence Award faculty winner (2012).

Lisa has served on the Dayton Children’s Hospital Women’s Board and the Dayton Society of Natural History Community Engagement Committee. Currently, Lisa serves as a board member for Clermont County’s Court Appointed Special Advocate program, and she also serves as a Guardian ad Leitem for the county.

Dr. Mahle-Grisez is replacing former Associate Provost Dr. Jennifer Kostic who was recently named Sinclair’s Vice President of Organizational Development. Dr. Kostic will provide senior administrative oversight and support to Sinclair’s Human Resources Department.
