Sinclair College Celebrates and Recognizes First Tartan TOPS Graduates

On May 23, 2022 the Tartan TOPS team celebrated the program's first graduates, Bruce Johnson and Sierra Ward. Bruce and Sierra worked diligently to complete four semesters of coursework, including internship experiences in the Sinclair Theatre Department and at Dorothy Lane Market, to obtain their Tartan TOPS certificates. Some of their best memories during their time at Sinclair include being a member of a team, enjoying an inclusive and welcoming environment, having the chance to be reflective through journal entries, and hosting the Tartan TOPS Podcast. The TOPS team is thrilled to see Bruce take on more hours at the job he loves and to welcome Sierra back into the classroom as she continues at Sinclair to earn her associate degree. Congratulations, Bruce and Sierra!

Sinclair’s Tartan TOPS Program provides an educational/career pathway for part-time students who have an intellectual disability. Students completing the pathway receive an Academic Career Readiness and Training credential. The general education courses taken as part of this program assist students with developing the skills needed for academic and career success. Students complete internship experiences to prepare them to enter the workforce. While the Tartan TOPS Program has reached capacity for Fall 2022, we welcome the chance to speak with prospective students about our waitlist or joining in Fall 2023.
