Sinclair is announcing a development in its efforts to expand college access and strengthen the region's workforce - the launch of “Sinclair Direct,” a new high school partnership and direct-admission initiative featuring the Sinclair Direct Promise.
The initiative operates to advance Sinclair's commitment to helping more students pursue post-secondary education, earn valuable credentials, and prepare for in-demand, good-paying careers.
“Together with our K-12 and community partners, we are reaching students earlier, removing barriers, and helping more young people prepare for the careers our regional employers need to fill," said Dr. Steven Johnson, President & CEO at Sinclair.
Developed in partnership with the Montgomery County Educational Service Center (MCESC), Sinclair Direct creates a coordinated pathway from high school to Sinclair College. The initiative provides eligible 2027 high school seniors with guaranteed admission, personalized enrollment assistance, financial aid guidance, career exploration, and transition support.
Sinclair Direct launches with eight (8) participating high schools and districts: Dayton Public Schools, Dixie High School, Jefferson Township Jr./Sr. High School, Northridge High School, Stebbins High School, Trotwood-Madison High School, Valley View High School, and West Carrollton High School.
MCESC serves as the regional convening partner, bringing schools and districts together to strengthen collaboration and help more students successfully transition to college.
A central feature of the initiative is the new Sinclair Direct Promise, designed to help eligible students cover remaining tuition and required fees after other grants and scholarships are applied. For qualifying students, this assistance could eliminate those costs. Students who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and all financial aid requirements by March 1, 2027, will receive priority consideration for Sinclair Direct Promise assistance.
"Sinclair Direct goes beyond the traditional admissions process," said Scott Markland, Senior Vice President at Sinclair College. "By connecting our schools, students, and families with Sinclair's resources, we're helping students see college as an achievable and affordable next step."
Sinclair Direct focuses on simplifying admission, improving affordability, and supporting the transition from high school to Sinclair.
"We're not waiting for students to find their way to college," said Marquez Young, Director of Admissions at Sinclair College. "We're working with our partners to build a regional system that helps more students get there, succeed, and prepare for their futures while strengthening the talent pipeline for our employers."
