VET 2205 Veterinary Dentistry, Advanced Radiology & Diagnostics

This course will offer a review previously discussed veterinary technologies and continue instruction in dental anatomy and techniques, advanced diagnostic imaging, and advanced diagnostic laboratory techniques. It will also review surgical assisting procedures such as gowning, gloving, and passing instruments, and anesthesia monitoring. Classroom hours will be blended with online/virtual learning.

Outcomes

  • The student will be able to describe a complete prophylaxis procedure and identify medical concerns in the mouth or systemically that may cause a concern for the animal under anesthesia.
  • The student will be able to identify diagnostic laboratory tests needed for specific diagnoses or rule-outs, and will be able to describe and perform the techniques required to obtain adequate and appropriate samples, store or ship these samples, and perform tests on these samples as specified within their Psychomotor Essential Skills Workbook.
  • The student will, when given a specific body region and differential diagnosis, be able to describe the appropriat positioning of an animal and correctly demonstrate proper exposure of radiographs appropriate for review by a radiologist.
