  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of and appreciation for the folkways of the Appalachian region.
  • Use clear, precise, and logical language to define, use, and apply key concepts in the arts and humanities related to the identification and understanding of folklore materials.
  • Identify, describe, and understand true folklore, its four basic classifications, and the skills and methods of professional folklorists.
  • Analyze and identify the major contemporary Appalachian writers.
