AVT 2321 Airline Transport Pilot

Students completing the Airline Transport Pilot course will gain knowledge in the areas of federal aviation regulations, Airline Transport Pilot privileges, advanced aviation weather and sources of weather information, instrument approach charts and enroute charts, aeronautical decision making, effective briefings, automation management, advanced aircraft performance, advanced aircraft systems, and advanced weight and balance scenarios. Outcomes

  • Analyze and comprehend knowledge of advanced weather including frontal characteristics, icing, and high altitude weather and its effect on aircraft and flight operations.
  • Comprehend and apply the principles of air navigation under instrument meteorological conditions, instrument approach charts, enroute charts and departure and arrival procedures as it applies to the national airspace system.
  • Analyze and comprehend aerodynamic theory with operational factors effecting aircraft flight characteristics and performance in normal and abnormal flight regimes.
  • Comprehend and apply the Code of Federal Aviation Regulations as they relate to Airline Transport Pilot privileges, limitations and flight operations.
  • Analyze and compute advanced weight and balance calculations, loading and use of charts and performance effects during air carrier aircraft operations.
