October 15, 2025 – eLearn Glow Up: Project Updates

Hello,

Sinclair’s LMS Migration project – eLearn is Getting a Glow Up! – continues moving forward as we prepare for Canvas to go live on May 18, 2026 (Summer 2026).

Project Progress

Several major project resources went live this month:

  • Open Labs: Prepping for Canvas – Dedicated sessions now available for all Course Coordinators, offering guided support using the D2L Course Prep Guide. We have 20 weeks left until migration, and migrating a single, clean master or Dev shell is important.
  • LMS Migration Landing Page: www.sinclair.edu/canvas now hosts the full project timeline, resource links, and audience-specific updates.
  • Canvas Migration Special Request: Required to migrate and archive any D2L training, community, or other shells not included in the bulk migration. Up to three shells can be submitted per form, or you may attach a spreadsheet with additional course shells or details.
  • Canvas Custom Workflow Request: Enables special workflow processes or integrations currently in D2L to be replicated in Canvas (e.g., API calls, registration restrictions, or batch enrollment processes).
  • The student communication campaign for eLearn is Getting a Glow Up! launched October 14. A copy of the email sent to students is attached for your reference.

What’s Next

For Chairs: Coming soon is a Migration Tracker. This shared document, managed by the LMS Migration Steering Committee and the Academic Departments, will record the master/dev courses, URLs, and migration readiness details for all courses to be migrated to Canvas. We will share this resource when it becomes available in late October/November. Jessica and I will be available to address any questions you may have about recording course information on the tracker.

Stay connected by visiting the landing page, sharing your questions using our one-question survey, or attending the project’s monthly Checkpoint Chats.

Thank you for your leadership as we guide the campus through this important transition. Together, we’re making eLearn shine brighter!
