May 13, 2026 – Attention Course Coordinators: Do Not Add Course Start or End Dates in Canvas Blueprints

Course Coordinators:

As you continue working in your Canvas Blueprints, please do not add course Start or End Dates in Settings at the Blueprint level.

We discovered that adding start or end dates to Blueprint courses will overwrite the course dates in associated teaching shells during a sync. This can create unintended issues for students and instructors.

If You Already Added Dates to a Blueprint

If you have already added a Start or End Date to your Blueprint and synced to teaching sections, please complete the following steps:

1. In your Blueprint, remove the Start Date and End Date. These fields should remain blank.
2. In associated teaching sections, go to Settings and confirm the following dates:
   • Start Date: May 17
   • End Date: August 9
3. Alternatively, you may choose to re-sync your Blueprint with affected teaching shells.
