Canvas goes live in 19 days on May 18.
If you have been unsure about next steps, this is the time to move forward. A few focused actions now will make a big difference when summer term begins.
Hear from Rick Andrews, Accounting Faculty, in this short video as he shares a straightforward message about preparing your course for Canvas and what actions matter most right now. His advice: don’t be intimidated—get started.
“My first shock was, I thought the migrated course was my course. The migrated course is just an area for us to transfer D2L content into Canvas.”
What’s a Migrated Course?
Migrated courses include D2L master shells, dev shells, and Spring 2026 teaching shells imported into Canvas. These courses contain “raw” content and are for reference only.
They are not courses you will teach from and are not used as Blueprints. They are a starting point for building a Blueprint.
What’s a Blueprint?
Blueprint courses are the new master course in Canvas and include the eLearn Standard Template to provide a consistent, branded look and feel. Course titles begin with “BP” (for example, BP_ALH1101_elearning).
What’s Next?
Important
Face-to-face courses have unique setup, content, and coordination needs. Faculty are strongly encouraged to attend a Course Set Up Lab while building summer Blueprints in Canvas.

Canvas goes live on May 18. What you do now will make a difference later.
