April 17, 2026 – [Action Required] Prepare for D2L End of Life on June 30

Hello faculty colleagues,

As we approach our full transition to Canvas this summer (beginning May 14), we want to share a few important reminders about our previous LMS, D2L Brightspace.

D2L access will end on June 30
After this date, you will no longer be able to log in or retrieve materials.

Don’t wait — we strongly encourage you to complete these steps now to avoid losing access to important materials.

Update your D2L access URL (effective May 14)
After May 14, elearn.sinclair.edu will redirect to Canvas.
Access D2L at: scc-elearn.brightspace.com
Export final grades (Spring 2026)
Download and securely store your 26/SP gradebooks.
Limit incompletes where possible
Spring incompletes will be completed in D2L. Reducing incompletes minimizes the need for students to access D2L after the transition.
Download any badges you wish to keep
Badges will not transfer to Canvas.

Attn: Course Coordinators Only

Export your Master or Dev shells
Use “Export as a Brightspace Package” to ensure all course content is saved before access ends.
Export rubrics and surveys
Rubric settings may not fully migrate, and surveys do not migrate to Canvas.
Export weighted gradebooks (Master/Dev shells)
Gradebook weighting does not transfer to Canvas.
Document Intelligent Agents (automated emails)
There is no direct Canvas equivalent. Plan to redesign using alternate communication methods.
Document release conditions (adaptive/conditional access)
These do not transfer and must be recreated using Canvas module prerequisites and requirements.
Consider your archiving needs
Submit materials needing retention beyond three years using the Migration Special Request Form.
