Parking and Building Entrance

  • Please be sure to arrive at the University of Dayton Arena by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8.
  • Please enter Gate C and park. In consideration of your exit from the parking lot at the end of the event, you may want to park near an exit. Please note that there are multiple exits from the parking lot: Gates A, B, C & D off Edwin C. Moses Blvd., two driveways off Arena Park Drive (near the baseball/soccer fields) and two exits on the North side of the parking lot onto Harriet Street.
  • Report to the LOADING DOCK entrance at the back of the arena dressed in your regalia.
  • YOU WILL BE GOING THROUGH A METAL DETECTOR. Please visit the UD Arena Security webpage for accepted and prohibited items. If you exit the arena for any reason, you will be required to pass through security again before re-entering.

Processional Line Up

  • The Processional will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. Please line up and process through the arena in pairs. Process IN FRONT OF or BEHIND  the person you would like to sit next to in the arena. When walking down the center aisle, do not leave large gaps between pairs. Tassels are worn on the left side of the cap.
  • All are expected to process unless there is a health-related or other accessibility issue necessitating pre-seating. If processing down the arena stairs is a health or safety concern for you, please contact Sinclair’s Accessibility Services to reserve accessible seating.

The Ceremony

The Processional for Faculty and Staff will be led by Debbie Strehle, President of the Faculty Senate, and Carolyn Reno, President of the Department Chair’s Council. The faculty and staff will be seated in Sections 108 and 109 behind the stage. The rows of seating will be filled from the bottom up.

  • Faculty members will be asked to stand along with graduates as the degrees are conferred. Provost Dr. Rena Sebor will prompt faculty, staff and graduates; please listen carefully for her instructions.
  • At the end of the ceremony, PLEASE REMAIN SEATED UNTIL THE STAGE PARTY HAS CLEARED THE ARENA BOWL. Faculty and staff will exit through doors behind sections 108 and 109. All are expected to remain until the ceremony concludes.
  • Please remember that any regalia purchased for you is yours to take home and maintain for future commencement ceremonies.
