Cap and Gown Information

Graduates have the option to pick up their cap and gown in person or order it online.

Pick Up In-person

Graduates may pick up their caps and gowns (and honor cords, as appropriate) in person at the Campus Store, located on the first floor of Building 7 on the Dayton Campus, during the two weeks leading up to the 2026 Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 8.

Campus Store pick-up hours will be:

  • Monday, April 27 - Thursday, April 30, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, May 1, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Monday, May 4 – Thursday, May 7, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Additional Information:

  • The Campus Store does not require you to pre-order your cap and gown or turn in your sizes.
  • You must present a valid photo ID (either your Tartan Card or driver's license) to pick up your cap and gown.
  • There is no cost to graduates for a cap and gown; however you must have previously registered to participate in the Commencement ceremony to receive your cap and gown.

Order Online

Graduates can also order their cap and gown online and have them shipped to their home. Online ordering will be available beginning Monday, April 27, at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 1. Graduates must pay the shipping cost.

Graduates are urged to unpack their gowns and hang them up to remove any wrinkles. You do not need to return the caps and gowns – they are yours to keep.

Graduation Name Card

When you pick up your cap and gown, you will also receive your graduation name card. You MUST bring this card with you to the ceremony. This card will have your name on it and will be used during the ceremony to call your name as you proceed through the graduation line. Again, you must bring this card with you!

Attire

All graduates are required to wear their cap and gown at the ceremony. Tassels should be worn to the graduate’s right side. Participants are encouraged to exercise good judgment in selecting their wardrobe for the ceremony. While the traditional ceremonial gown provides ample coverage, participants are asked to refrain from wearing shorts and/or sandals. Graduates will be walking up and down the Arena stairs and are encouraged to wear shoes that will ease this process. Shoes with tall heels, as well as sandals or flip flops are strongly discouraged.
