William Terence JacksonCan you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Terence Jackson, and I proudly attended Sinclair Community College, graduating in 1994 with a degree in Business Administration. Sinclair set the foundation for my academic and professional journey, enabling me to earn degrees in Accountancy and Business Administration. Today, I’m honored to serve in leadership roles, sit on high-profile boards in Austin, Texas, and contribute as an accomplished musician, entrepreneur, and founder of multi-award-winning lifestyle magazines. Additionally, I’m a ForbesBLK member, recognizing my dedication to innovation and leadership.

What inspired you to pursue your career path, and how did Sinclair help you get there?

My career path was inspired by a desire to make a difference, build meaningful connections, and create opportunities for others. Sinclair played a crucial role in that journey, offering accessible programs, knowledgeable professors, and a supportive community that fueled my growth. The lessons I learned at Sinclair set the stage for my work as a leader, creative professional, and advocate for excellence in all areas of life.

How would you describe the impact Sinclair had on your life, both in and out of the classroom?

Sinclair had a transformative impact on my life. In the classroom, I gained practical skills and knowledge that prepared me for success in both academic and professional pursuits. Outside the classroom, I developed resilience, adaptability, and a passion for lifelong learning, which have guided me as a leader, entrepreneur, and mentor. Sinclair isn’t just a place to learn — it’s a place to grow, connect, and thrive.

How has your definition of success changed from when you were a Sinclair student to now?

As a Sinclair student, I defined success as earning my degree and building a career. Today, success means so much more. It’s about creating a legacy — using my education and experiences to inspire others, foster innovation, and make a lasting impact on the communities I serve. Sinclair taught me that true success isn’t about personal achievements alone; it’s about lifting others up and making a difference.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to current Sinclair students?

Be proud of where you are and the journey you’re on — Sinclair is a world-class institution that offers incredible opportunities. Take full advantage of the resources, professors, and connections around you. Believe in yourself, aim high, and know the foundation you’re building today will set you up for a future filled with limitless possibilities.
