Can you tell us a little about yourself?I was diagnosed with autism at 4 years old, and I make video games and cartoons with my own series titled "The Adventures of Micah" just for the occasion, which I hope to one day turn into a full-fledged series with the goal of getting video games, movies and its own television series made. I attended Sinclair from September 2011 to July 2012 in the Multimedia Certificate program, in which I've obtained my Multimedia Certification. I currently work as a Crew Member at a Taco Bell restaurant, in which I clean and sanitize the store and stock inventory.
I've been playing video games since I was 5, and every now and then, I would develop crushes on someone, in which I would envision myself as a superhero saving their lives whenever they were in peril. With these 2 thoughts in mind, my conscience became clear that I know what I wanted to do. Sinclair has helped me prepare for this industry by teaching me the basics of planning and designing my desired projects in a way that brings them to life.
Sinclair has had a very good impact on both my personal and professional life. During my time, I was able to get hands-on experience with designing artwork (both physically and digitally) and think creatively. It also allowed me to learn and see what it's like to build something from the ground up, whether if it's artwork, websites, animations, or videos.
I was very nervous in the beginning as part of the adjustment process when entering new territory. Once I've adapted, I've learned to see and enjoy the sites while they lasted, because some of these experiences are temporary. You never know what path this will all lead you to.
Never give up. No matter what obstacles get in your way, whether if it's naysayers, anxiety towards new environments, or tough classes, just put your best foot forward and follow your heart (or your dreams). Some things are worth the wait.
