Jasmin Hardaway

Jasmin HardawayCan you tell us a little about yourself?

I started my journey at Sinclair in 2017. I was in nursing for a year, but I quickly decided that it was not for me. I took a couple of years off to figure out what I wanted to do for my career before settling on respiratory therapy. Now, I currently work at Miami Valley Hospital as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

What inspired you to pursue your career path, and how did Sinclair help you get there?

The inspiration to pursue my career path came from this intense need to help people in distressing and critical situations. Sinclair helped me by giving me different avenues and options that matched the job description that I wanted.

How would you describe the impact Sinclair had on your life, both in and out of the classroom?

Sinclair’s most significant impact on my life, both inside and outside the classroom, was the uplifting support and assistance when I was struggling due to outside varients. My professors never gave up on me, even when I wanted to give up on myself. They treated me with a kindness that I wish to return to anyone needing assistance.

How has your definition of success changed from when you were a Sinclair student to now?

My definition of success has veered into a more positive and uplifting spotlight. Since graduating from Sinclair, I have been focusing on healthy lifestyle habits and expanding my education. I give myself more grace now and days because everything cannot be perfect, and that’s okay.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to current Sinclair students?

One piece of advice I would give to current Sinclair students is it’s okay to not be okay. Your struggles do not define you, and every small step forward is a victory worth celebrating. You got this!
