Julio Pitaluga

Julio PitalugaCan you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Julio Pitaluga, I’m from Brazil and was an international student at Sinclair. I attended from 2021 to 2024 andgraduated in May 2024 with a degree in Visual Communication (VISCOM). I'm currently taking a few management classes to further improve my skills and performance at work. While I was still in school, in 2022, I started an internship at Winsupply — a large company based in Moraine, Ohio. I began as a UI/UX intern and today I work there as a Senior Designer.

What inspired you to pursue your career path, and how did Sinclair help you get there?

I already had a degree in Graphic Design from Brazil, so I was familiar with the field. However, Sinclair’s program offered some strong advantages over my first degree — like an amazing campus structure, great support from faculty, and up-to-date course content. Sinclair not only helped me refresh and upgrade my skills, but it also opened the door for me to enter the U.S. job market. Through Sinclair, I landed my first job opportunity and was able to prove the value of my previous qualifications.

How would you describe the impact Sinclair had on your life, both in and out of the classroom?

Sinclair has had — and continues to have — a huge impact on my life. It was my gateway to the U.S., to American education, and to the professional world here. Choosing Sinclair not only helped me fulfill my dreams and expectations as an immigrant, but also continues to be part of my daily life and career journey.

How has your definition of success changed from when you were a Sinclair student to now?

I don't think it changed — it evolved beyond what I could have imagined. Studying Design at Sinclair gave me many opportunities: I met incredibly talented people, worked with local businesses and printers essential to my field, and most importantly, I got a job at a major company that is now sponsoring my green card. Sinclair played a key role in makingthat dream possible, and that’s why I’m still taking classes in management — because I truly believe in the value of the education they provide.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to current Sinclair students?

I’d say you made a great choice by coming to Sinclair — this is a huge step in your life. Stay focused, complete yourprogram, and take full advantage of your time in school. Learn as much as you can, build connections, and trust that it will all be worth it. The opportunities will come, and they can truly change your life.
