  • Gotham is the typeface used in the Sinclair logo and is used in approved print materials.
  • Montserrat is an open-source alternative to Gotham and is used in digital applications.
  • Minion Pro may be used as a serif typeface in print materials.

Gotham is a licensed typeface and cannot be distributed by Sinclair. Arial or Montserrat may be used when Gotham is not available.

Voice & Writing

Sinclair's voice is welcoming, informative, supportive, and easy to understand. Communications should speak directly to the audience while remaining professional and approachable.

  • Be clear and direct. Use plain language and avoid unnecessary jargon.
  • Be warm and inclusive. Use language that respects and welcomes all audiences.
  • Be concise. Use informative headings, short paragraphs, and lists to make information easy to scan.
  • Use consistent terminology. Use "Sinclair College" on first reference and "Sinclair" on subsequent references.

Accessibility

Accessibility is an important part of creating clear, inclusive Sinclair communications. Materials should be designed so information can be understood and accessed by people with diverse abilities.

  • Maintain sufficient contrast between text, graphics, and backgrounds.
  • Use clear, readable type and uncluttered layouts.
  • Do not rely on color alone to communicate meaning.
  • Provide descriptive alternative text for meaningful images in digital content.
  • Provide captions for video and transcripts for audio-only content.
