Industrial Engineering Technology concentrates on the latest methods for making businesses more productive and profitable. As American businesses strive to be more competitive in today's global marketplace, it needs professionals who can make their companies work more efficiently and reduce costs.
Each of our programs provides you with a variety of focuses in manufacturing and operations technologies. Many graduates within this field of study go on to work in manufacturing settings and in service organizations, such as hospitals, banks, communications companies, consulting firms, and even the federal government.
Those graduates who choose the manufacturing options often work in those same industries much more closely to the machinery used in production operations. Our department takes great pride in arming graduates with the education and experience needed to pursue rewarding, growth-oriented careers.
IET graduates work in manufacturing settings and in service organizations such as hospitals, banks, communications companies, consulting firms and the federal government. The IET program allows graduates to optimize processes, improve productivity and reduce costs for an employer. Skills taught that equip students to accomplish this include ergonomic, cost and engineering economic analysis, computer simulation of manufacturing and service processes, design of product and service production processes, factory and office floor layout, work measurement, statistical process control, six sigma methods, lean manufacturing and service operations, value analysis and supply chain and logistics operations. Students take part in lecture-lab structured courses, on-line course offerings and hands-on demonstrations of course principles. Each student also completes an intern type capstone project course at a local organization. These teaching methods assure that students gain practical knowledge as well as the engineering technology fundamentals. Those who wish to further their studies may transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

The Industrial Engineering Technology (IET) program prepares individuals for leadership roles in the operations of business, industry, and service organizations with a special emphasis on IET skills. Students learn analysis, continuous improvement, quality assurance, and problem solving techniques that can be applied toward financial, health care, manufacturing, and service/retail fields. Students take part in lecture-lab structured courses and hands-on demonstrations of course principles, assuring that they will gain practical knowledge as well as the fundamentals. Those who wish to further their studies may transfer to four-year colleges and universities.
This degree program contains one or more embedded certificates which will be automatically awarded when the certificate requirements are completed. If you do not want to receive the embedded certificate(s), please notify Registration and Student Records at studentrecords@sinclair.edu.

View Full Program DetailsThis short-term certificate promotes technical communication skills and teamwork, project management skills, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement skills, application of quality principles, statistics and probability theories, and problem-solving skills as they relate to process improvement. This program reflects the underlying skills necessary for the successful application of six sigma methodologies and provides practice in measuring and improving processes that suffer from quality, throughput and waste problems. The courses in this short-term certificate apply directly to the Operations Technology degree.

This short-term certificate provides both theory and practice in measuring parts and processes, analyzing the result and determining the forms of error that contribute to the uncertainty of the measurements. A good measurement system is an underlying requirement for improving quality, throughput and waste problems. This certificate focuses on calibration and dimensional measurements, including coordinate measurements. Pressure, temperature and mass are also covered. The courses in this short-term certificate apply directly to the Industrial Engineering Technology (OPTIO.S.AAS) degree.
