2024-2027 Strategic Planning Process

What is a Strategic Plan?

A strategic plan is a roadmap for an institution's future that outlines vision, values, goals, and priorities over a defined period. It is developed through a collaborative process with input from internal and external stakeholders and the plan guides decision-making, both big-picture and day-to-day operations.

Strategic plans consider future challenges and opportunities, allowing Sinclair Community College to stay competitive and relevant in the educational landscape. A strategic plan is an ongoing process and is revisited and revised periodically to reflect changing circumstances and ensure its continued effectiveness. This vital process will help Sinclair Community College chart its course, make informed decisions, and ensure our long-term success in an ever-evolving educational and economic environment.

 

 

The Process

The growth and success of Sinclair Community College have always been the result of collective effort and forward-thinking strategies. As we navigate changes to the economy and higher education, it is imperative for us to set a clear direction, align our objectives, and adapt to the changing needs of our students and community.

In 2023, Sinclair Community College began an ambitious strategic planning process that involves four stages, further outlined below:  

  1. Listen and Learn—Understanding the current reality
  2. Plan Development—Outlining strategic priorities
  3. Implementation—Implementing the plan and priorities
  4. Strategic Management—Building out the support structure and monitoring outcomes 

Please take some time to explore what we have accomplished and what we will be working on in the future. This site will be updated quarterly as the strategic planning process moves forward.

October 2023 - January 2024

Phase Complete

This phase was focused on understanding Sinclair’s current reality and the following items were completed:

  • Steering committee formation and ongoing meetings
  • Internal and external interviews, focus groups, and surveys
  • Review of data, reports, and analysis
  • Development of SWOTs and preliminary strategic issues discussion
 

January 2024 - August 2024

Phase Complete

This phase is designed to review the data collected from Phase I and incorporate into a future plan. This phase is developing the following:

  • Potential Vision, Purpose and Core Values
  • Develop a framework of overarching goals and strategies
  • Build consensus around the plan framework
  • Develop a final plan to share with the Sinclair community.
