This is accomplished primarily through the following services: individual counseling, workshops, educational programming, outreach services, support groups, chat room and referrals. Counseling Services Office
The major function of the Counseling Services Department exist to provide services which support students as they pursue their academic goals and promote students’ academic and personal development.
The Department consists of the Counseling Office, Prevention Education Resource Services and Minority Student Retention Programs. Personnel includes two full time counselors and two part-time counselors, who provide support and guidance to assist persons with personal, academic and career decisions; one administrative and two support staff; one part-time counselor that is shared with the Retention Services Team; several Peer Counselor Assistants assigned to various positions within the department who assists students in adjusting to, and successfully matriculating at Sinclair.
Counseling Services offers a wide range of services that help students achieve personal and professional growth and academic success:
- Individual counseling sessions are available to assist the student with academic, personal, professional, and career-related concerns.
- Assessments and intakes are provided at no cost to Sinclair students including learning style, anxiety and depression screening, career and personal interest assessments.
- Counseling Services also offers workshops, support groups and programs which addresses issues of personal enrichment, time management, stress management, coping with fears and anxiety, study skills, alcohol and drug abuse, goal setting, entry/re-entry to work world, career decision-making, values clarification, and family/relationships. All counseling services are free, confidential and available on a walk-in basis or by appointment.
- A comprehensive community referral system is available to direct students to off-campus agencies for additional assistance.
