The Dayton Campus New Student Enrollment Center and the Testing Center provide secure and quiet testing environments for placement and academic testing. Placement and academic testing are also available at all Sinclair regional centers and Sinclair in Mason. Placement and academic tests on the Dayton Campus are given individually on a first come, first served basis (walk-in testing). For hours of operation and scheduling guidelines by center and location, visit the Testing Hours and Locations page.
Coming to the Dayton Campus? Parking is available in Lot A, the open-access student and visitor lot.
The placement test is an untimed computerized assessment in math and/or English that Sinclair uses to ensure that you enroll in the classes that are right for you. The first placement test attempts each year, along with access to web-based remediation software, are provided by Sinclair at no cost to the student. Upon completion of the placement test, your Academic Advisor will review your scores with you and help make appropriate recommendations for course registration or review.
Academic testing is available for distance learning/Sinclair Online students, students who have been approved to make up a classroom test and students requiring accommodations who are registered with Accessibility Services.
A valid state/government issued ID or active Tartan Card is required for academic and placement testing.
Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy
In consideration of others and for testing security purposes, you are required to show us that you have powered off your cell phone or electronic device before entering the testing lab.
Midterms and Finals
During midterms and finals, please anticipate longer than usual wait times for academic tests. Wait times during these periods can range from 30 minutes to an hour. Please remember to allow enough time to compensate for the longer than usual wait time.
