What is the program about?

Students are prepared for careers in facility management with a specialization in decarbonization strategies. Emphasis on HVAC systems as a critical component of energy efficiency and carbon reduction in buildings. Students learn sustainable building practices, energy management, renewable energy integration, and the implementation of decarbonization technologies in HVAC systems.

Program Outcomes

  • Analyze and optimize HVAC systems for energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. Learn decarbonization strategies for existing and new buildings, including HVAC upgrades and retrofits.
  • Understand the principles of facility management and their role in sustainable building operations.
  • Apply energy auditing techniques to identify areas for improvement in building systems and integrate renewable energy technologies with HVAC systems for carbon reduction.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this program can pursue careers such as Facility Manager, HVAC Decarbonization Specialist, Energy Auditor, Sustainability Coordinator, or Building Operations Manager.

Transferability

We will explore potential transfer pathways to the University of Dayton through their ITAC program as well as to various sustainability degrees managed by the Hanley Sustainability Institute. The University of Dayton is a subawardee for the Sinclair ITAC, providing technical support and participating in our Advisory Board.
