Dayton, OH – Sinclair Men’s Basketball Guard, 6-01 Sophomore Kevin Vest (Carroll H.S.) has been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Men’s Player of the Week for the week ending February 20th.
Vest scored 53 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for the Tartan Pride as well as dishing out ten assists and snagged six steals. Kevin also shot 52.7% (19-36) from the floor, 43.8 % (7-16) from the three point arc and 88.9 % (8-9) from the free throw line during the week.
“Kevin has been a main stay in our line up for the last two years and has consistently played at a high level,” said Coach Price. “He brings toughness to our lineup with an extremely high basketball IQ.”
Kevin has paced the Tartan Pride to a 20 win season his first year a solid 18-8 regular season record with 4 games left this year. He is currently ranked in the following OCCAC stat categories: 5th in Assist (4.2), 5th in Steals (2.2), 5th in 3pt% (41.4%), 7th in FT% (76.0%) and 10th in overall FG% (48.3%).
Kevin also ranks among the leaders in several of the following National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) stats: 24th in FT% (82.8%), 45th in Steals (2.346) and 48th in Assist (4.654). Kevin is currently averaging 11.577 points per game with 5.038 rebounds per game in addition to the above listed stats.
The 6-01 Sophomore Guard has scored a total of 634 career points (12.431/game) in 51 games and has already signed early to attend NCAA Division II Tusculum College (TN) next year.
The OCCAC and Sinclair Community College congratulates Kevin on the award.
The Sinclair Men’s team will return to action next Wednesday night at home against Lakeland CC (6pm) and Friday night at home against Edison CC (6pm).
