Sinclair's Student Club Service Initiative Distributes 500 Emergency Winter Kits to the Dayton Community's Unhoused

Sinclair Community College’s Student Club Service recently organized an initiative that distributed 500 emergency winter kits to the Dayton community’s unhoused. Led by Sinclair’s Social Work Club, students put together winter bags that provided items necessary during the cold, winter months for those in need.

With funding assistance from The Sinclair Foundation, students produced the 500 emergency bags specifically for the unhoused in the Dayton community, then delivered those winter kits to various community partners for distribution throughout the region.

85% of the deliveries went to the Miami Valley Housing Opportunities (MVHO); 10% went to Daybreak Dayton, an emergency shelter and enrichment service for homeless youth; and 5% went to the college’s own Sinclair Case Management for those students in need.

“I am so proud of our students who led this service initiative,” said Alicia Schroeder, MRC, Director of Sinclair’s Student Affairs. “This initiative is a shining example of the great work our students are doing for the community.”

The next Student Club Service Experience will take place on Sinclair’s Dayton Campus during its “Spring Fling Week” April 16th. Sinclair’s Student Club and Organizational Hub is located at the Dayton Campus, 444 W. Third St. Dayton, OH 45402. Visit Sinclair’s Student Club and Organizational Hub to Learn More.
