When and where is Sinclair’s 2021 Graduation Ceremony?
Sinclair Community College will celebrate commencement on Thursday, May 6, 2021, with two in-person ceremonies at University of Dayton Arena. Each ceremony will allow for 500 graduates with up to four guests per graduate. Safety will continue to be a top priority as Sinclair aligns the ceremonies with state and local health protocols due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. We are continually updating details at: https://www.sinclair.edu/commencement/
What about 2020 graduates?
Due to space constraints because of COVID-19 safety protocols, the May 6th ceremonies are limited to 2021 graduates. However, 2020 grads have not been forgotten. Sinclair continues to explore the possibility for a separate event later this summer for 2020 graduates. While we don’t have specifics and cannot commit to any event at this time due to safety concerns and the need to follow public health guidelines, we are evaluating many options. Please stay tuned for more information.
What about children? Can they attend the May 6th ceremonies?
Children are welcome to attend the May 6th commencement ceremonies. Children age 2 and under will not require a ticket and may sit on an adult’s lap. Please keep in mind that graduates and guests must follow safety protocols established by UD Arena. Masks are required for all attendees over the age of 2 at all times within UD Arena, consistent with the state-wide mask mandate.
Why are you holding the ceremonies in the middle of the day? I have to work and it’s not fair.
We understand that not everyone will be able to attend the ceremonies. We have explored many options to ensure graduates receive the recognition they deserve while adhering to public health and safety protocols.
Will I have my photo taken?
Due to time and social distancing, Sinclair will not be photographing students with their diploma covers. There will be several designated areas set up at UD Arena where graduates may take their own photos in front of special backdrops.
What kind of security will be in place?
Please review the security protocols established by UD Arena:
I can’t attend the ceremony for my division because I have to work. Can I attend the other ceremony?
Due to space constraints because of COVID-19 safety protocols, graduates are restricted to attending the ceremony for their division.
Where can I get tickets?
Graduates will be contacted directly with instructions on registering and the ticketing process. The electronic tickets are free. Each graduate may invite up to four (4) guests. Graduates must register in order to attend the graduation ceremony.
Will there be assigned seats for graduates and guests?
Yes. Graduates and their guests will receive seat assignments when reserving tickets. Graduates will be contacted directly with instructions on registering and the ticketing process. Each graduate may invite up to four (4) guests. Graduates must register in order to attend the graduation ceremony.
What if I have more than four guests?
In order to have a safe event that meets COVID-19 public health guidelines, graduates are limited to up to four guests. Sinclair is exploring live streaming options to allow family and friends to enjoy the ceremonies online. Please stay tuned for details.
Will graduates get the opportunity to walk across the stage to receive our diploma?
The current plan is to have 2021 graduates will walk up to the stage to receive their diploma cover after their name has been called.
