MLK Day Volunteer Virtual March

Date: Monday, January 18, 2021
Campus: All Campuses

Lace up your sneakers and dress for the weather (or your treadmill)!

In 1963, 250,000 people marched in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom to advocate for racial and social justice. It was at this march where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech calling for an end to racism, which was a catalyst in the passage of the Civil rights Act of 1964. We march each year because we believe in that dream, and we believe in each other.

COVID-19 has certainly changed the way we do just about everything this year. Everything is different. However, just because it is different, does not mean it is less important. Join the Sinclair College Community in our first ever volunteer Sinclair Virtual MLK March to keep the dream alive.

Although we are now physically separated, the MLK Volunteer Virtual March still allows us to come together to mark the occasion and celebrate a man, a dream, and be united in the antiracist vision we share.

Please consider the following as you prepare for your virtual march:

1.  Wear Sinclair gear if you so choose.

2.  Make a sign for your march to encourage your community to promote peace and social and racial justice.

3.  Encourage department teams.

4.  Take a selfie/create a short video stating why you are marching.

5.  Post photos and videos on your social media using the hashtag #SCCMLK21.
