Lady Pride Top Lakeland, Land First Round

Dayton, OH –  Sinclair Women’s Tartan Pride basketball team knew today’s game was a critical one. Sinclair had dropped four of their last five and needing a turnaround – fast!  Hosting Lakeland out of Cleveland proved to be another tough test for The Lady Pride as six members of their team were honored on Senior Day.

Sinclair held a narrow two point lead going into halftime, 44-42.  Lakeland kept the score close shooting 60 percent from the field in the first half. Sinclair held a 20 to 14 rebounding margin.

In the second half, Sinclair and Lakeland would battle right down to the very end.  At 2:50 to go, Sophomore, Shelby Pettie (Brookville) hit a three to push the lead to 66-64 and then another key three at the 2:33 mark to move the Pride ahead for good and secure a 80-74 win.

Sinclair was led by Sophomores Haleigh Hickenbottom (West Liberty) 16 points and 10 rebounds, Jessica Plummer (Tippecanoe) 15 points and Pettit with 14 points.

Sinclair completes the regular season at 16-8 and 6-6 in conference, good enough for fourth in the conference and a first round home game in the OCCAC Tournament.  The Tartan Pride Women will kickoff a Tuesday, March 1 doubleheader.

Game time, for The Lady Pride will be 5:30 PM in Sinclair's Physical Activities Center located in Building 8 on the downtown campus.
