Kerns and Botjer Shut Down Vikings

On a weekend where almost every college baseball game in the region was canceled, the Pride still played. "Having a field turf field is a huge advantage," says Dintaman. "If we were still at Howell Field, we wouldn't of even had a home opener yet." So, Sinclair took on fellow Region XII Member Glen Oaks CC.

In game one, Justin Schultheiss took the mound for his 3rd start of the season. After getting into trouble early, Schultheiss would leave the game in the 3rd on a ankle injury that occurred on a broken down double-play. With the score tied at four, Jeremiah Kerns entered the game and struck out the batter to end the threat. Zach Stewart & Corey Throckmorton led off the inning getting hit and Stewart moved to 3rd on a deep flyball from Brandon Napier. Brad Yinger then sent a drive to right-field for the sacrifice fly. Sinclair would never trail again. Kerns finished the game without allowing a hit and picked up his first career collegiate win.

Final Score: Sinclair 14 Glen Oaks 4

Offensive Leaders: Byron Johann 2-3 2RBI's, Brad Yinger 1-4 2B 3 RBI's, Jake Heckman 2-2 3RS 2BB HR 2RBI's.

The Pride's hottest pitcher Zach Botjer got the start in game two and he did not disappoint. The only time Botjer would have trouble was in the 1st inning where he allowed two hits but got out of the bases loaded jam without yielding a run. Botjer then went six scoreless innings only allowing one hit and getting the complete game shutout. Offensively the Pride scored three in the first on four hits and added two more runs in the next few innings.

Final Score: Sinclair 5 Glen Oaks 0

Offensive Leaders: Zach Stewart 2-4 RBI 3 SB's, Byron Johann 1-3 2B HBP RBI, Corey Throckmorton 1-1 RS HBP RBI.
