The MOPAR® College Automotive Program (MOPAR CAP) is a study/internship program that trains high-caliber automotive technicians for employment at Chrysler Group dealerships nationwide. The program’s purpose is to ensure that Chrysler Group customers have the best service available for their vehicles now and into the future. To achieve this goal, MOPAR CAP has created strategic partnerships with automotive colleges and technical schools throughout the United States. These select schools train students utilizing Chrysler specific automotive diagnostic processes and repair procedures to develop the skills necessary to be successful Chrysler Group technicians.
MOPAR CAP is based on a model that should lead to the mutual success of all three of the principle partners: the students, the colleges and the dealerships that participate all have an opportunity to benefit greatly from a relationship with MOPAR CAP.
- Students benefit from internship work experience at the dealership and also from receiving specific OEM training with the latest vehicle technology, diagnostic equipment and service information. This training, in turn, leads to higher job placement and earning potential after graduation—specifically, at Chrysler Group dealerships.
- The dealership benefits come from having a source of well-trained and motivated technicians to fill the numerous positions being made available as a result of an aging technician workforce and also the growth of the automotive service business.
- For the college, being a part of the MOPAR CAP network will attract parents, students, instructors and Chrysler Group dealerships to the school and enhance its reputation for excellence and leading edge technology. MOPAR CAP offers significant benefits to partnering colleges, such as ongoing and free instructor training; vehicle, tool and component donations; extensive web-training access for students and instructors; current service information; marketing materials; and the support of the MOPAR CAP field team. In return, it is important for the college to understand the importance of a long-term commitment to recruiting, training and placing students and graduates for the shared success between the students, college and dealerships.
