Why is Sinclair charging students to print their results?
Sinclair has implemented a pay-for-print system in order to provide better quality printing and reduce printing waste.

What will the cost for printing be?
Sinclair provides you with $7.50 in free prints (the equivalent of 150 pages of 8 ½ x 11 single-sided black and white pages) every term to offset the charges of printing in the GoPrint system. You will not actually be charged for printing until you have used all of your free prints. When the amount of free prints is used up, funds on the user’s Sinclair Tartan Card will be used to pay for the printing in the labs. Black and White 8 ½ x 11 = $.05 per page, double sided printing = $.04 per page, 11 x 14 = $.15 per page, 11 x 17 = $.25 per page Color 8 ½ x 11 = $.25 per page, double sided printing = $.36, 11 x 14 = $.40 per page, 11 x 17 = $.50 per page, plotter $.50 per page

What happens if I make a mistake? Will I be charged?
Yes. There are NO refunds on print jobs. You should preview your print job by using the Print Preview capability before printing it.

What if I need to add money to my card?
Students, faculty, and staff can add money to their Tartan Card at any Tartan Card ATM throughout Sinclair or they can go to the Online Tartan Card Office at http://www.sinclair.edu/tartancard/index.cfm.

What do I do if the printer doesn't work?
Ask the lab staff for assistance.

Why does Word 2007 charge for an extra page when I print?
When printing duplex and in Word 2007 it charges an extra page. The work-around is to print single-sided. When printing 4 pages or more it will be cheaper if you print duplex.

Who is eligible for free prints?
The only people eligible for free prints are currently registered students.

How can I save my work without printing?
You can save your work to external storage media such as CD-ROMs, flash drives, etc. You can also email your work to yourself.

What if I’m not a Sinclair student, faculty or staff member?
The only place for guests to print will be from designated computers in the Library. 1.Guest will finish printing. 2.The guest will go to the library front desk when finished. 3.Library staff will review the charges with guest, collect the money and print the document(s).

Why does IE charge me for an additional page when printing duplex?
When printing jobs with odd pages numbers (1, 3, 5, etc.) from Internet Explorer, IE will add one additional page on odd pages for duplex printing. You will be charged $.04 extra if you print duplex from IE.

Does the free prints carry over from term to term?
No. Every term the student will start with $7.50 free print funds.

Where do I find how much I have in free prints?
Go to http://freeprints.sinclair.edu and enter your login ID. Hit enter and Select. This will give you information about your balance and you can see a history of deposits and account status changes for this term.
