Sinclair maintains a variety of adaptive equipment available for use by students with disabilities. This equipment is set up each quarter in the locations where it is needed by specific students. Sinclair has integrated fully accessible adapted computer station in various labs across campus.
Students should discuss their needs for the upcoming quarter with their Disability Services Counselor at least two weeks prior to the start of the quarter. Keep in mind that some adaptive equipment installations may take additional lead time to arrange and may require as much as eight weeks lead time.
Available adaptive equipment includes:
- Voice output for computers (screen reader software with sound card)
- Computer screen enlargement software and large monitors
- Mouse alternatives such as trackballs, touchpad and joystick
- Ergonomic and other special keyboards
- FM loop assistive listening devices
- Closed Circuit TV magnification systems
- Alternative classroom furniture, including adjustable height desks
- Braille translator software with embosser and Braille labeler
- Voice recognition software for computer input
- Tactile image enhancer
- Alternative keyboard arrangements for one-handed typists
