Due to the fact that sixty percent of incoming students needed at least one course in developmental studies, Sinclair decided that it could no longer just be a passive receiver of unprepared students who came through its doors. In an effort to help students become ready for college level work, Sinclair developed the ARC. The goal of the ARC program is for a student to be able to enter Sinclair without the need for remediation in any developmental studies courses. This will not only save students time and money, but ultimately it will reduce the number of students needing pre-college level courses and allow Sinclair to redeploy faculty resources to college level instruction. Simply put, the ARC offers the opportunity for students to become academically ready for college.
