Money
It is best not to carry large sums of money with you or to keep money in your room or apartment. Bring your money with you to Dayton in the form of travelors checks. Most students open an account at a bank in Dayton. There are two kinds of accounts: checking and savings. Almost all people open checking accounts and pay bills by check. The bank will show you how to keep careful records of deposits, withdrawals, and service charges. Most banks will charge you a monthly fee for the priviledge of having a checking account. Some banks will charge for each check that you write. To save money, ask if the bank has a no-fee checking account. Also, foreign currency can be exchanged at only a few Dayton banks. The two automatic teller (ATM) systems in Dayton are Plus and Cirrus--check with your bank to determine whether you can use either system to gain access to your account at home.
