To receive federal financial aid, students must:
- be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours minimum) EXCEPTION: Some recipients may receive Pell Grant while enrolled for a minimum of 1 credit hour.
- be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen
- have a demonstrated financial need
- be making satisfactory progress (as defined by the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships) in the course of study
- not be in default on a Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Stafford Loan, Federal Supplemental Loan for Students, Federal PLUS Loan, or Federal Direct Loan
- be enrolled at Sinclair for the purpose of obtaining a degree or certificate
- have a high school diploma or GED, or meet specific placement test scores
- be registered with the selective service, if required to do so
- have no felony convictions for drug offenses
- not owe a refund on a Federal Pell Grant or Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
- meet Ohio residency requirements (parents of dependent students must also meet Ohio residency requirements)
- be planning to attend college on a full-time basis to obtain Full-time Ohio Instruction Grant (OIG).
- be planning to attend college for at least 1 credit hour to receive Part-time Ohio Instructional Grant,
- be enrolled at Sinclair for the purpose of obtaining a degree
NOTE: Students who have received a bachelor's degree in the U.S. or in another country are not eligible to receive federal or state grants.
