As a financial aid recipient, it is crucial that you establish attendance in each class you are registered for every quarter. Essentially, this involves attending classes on a regular basis. If you decide to withdraw from a class with a "W", you are still responsible to establish attendance in all classes.
Should a situation arise where you do not establish attendance, your financial aid will be reduced down to the amount of credit hours you actually attend. For example, if you register for 12 credits at the beginning of the quarter and we receive attendance information from one of your instructors stating you never attended a 3 credit course, your financial aid will be reduced down to 3/4 enrollment. This could leave you in an owing situation with the school.
Attendance is also important for loan recipients. You must maintain attendance in at least 6 credits beyond the 100% refund period. As mentioned previously, if you decide to drop a class with a "W", as long as attendance was established in the class, your loan will not be affected by this rule as long as your money has already been disbursed. You must be attending at least 6 hours at the time your loan money is received.
Please come in to see a financial aid staff member should you have any questions about this requirement. It is always a good practice to be informed about financial aid requirements before you act in order to avoid any misunderstandings.
