Evaluating News and Media Sources

Things to think about:

  • Credibility of a news organization can change
  • Credible sources ARE available on both sides of political spectrum
  • Try to look for at least 3-4 credible news sources, with at least one coming from a different viewpoint than your own (left/right/neutral) to get a full picture of the situation
  • Is it Primary source? Secondary source?
  •  Look for similarities across articles and any significant difference

Local Newspaper websites

Excellent resource for today's news. Local newspaper web sites are good sources for current news and photos. Some may have older articles available in archives while others will be limited to current information.
