QUARTERS TO SEMESTERS 2012

Reasons for Change

There are a number of reasons that Sinclair chose to adopt the semester system. Most importantly, as an associate degree granting college, many of our students plan to transfer to other colleges or universities after they have finished their chosen program. By sharing the same academic year structure as the majority of colleges and universities, students planning to go on after Sinclair will experience an even more seamless transition.

The vast majority of colleges and universities across the country use the semester system, including many Ohio schools. Even some private schools in Ohio  currently using the quarter-based academic year are planning to shift to semester beginning in fall 2012.
